🎬 Firat – Beyond the Euphrates🌹Fırat – Fırat’ın Ötesinde🌹🌞

🎬 Firat – Beyond the Euphrates🌹 Fırat – Fırat’ın Ötesinde🌹🌞 My new film is once again about friends and various people living in my neighborhood: Amed, Melahat, and their children Zin and Cektar. The family runs a Späti that includes a Kurdish bookshop here in Kreuzberg, Berlin. The Späti is called „Firat,“ named after their eldest son, who was killed at the age of nine near Diyarbakir. The Späti is the center, the sun, the cosmos from which all the stories originate and to which they return.Nearly 1.5 million Kurds live in Germany. All of them are people with migrant backgrounds: sometimes it’s Döner-Mustafa, sometimes Vegetable-Mehmed, or Fatma tailoring service. We live next to them them without knowing the stories of their lives. This film is not just about one individual, Späti-Amed, but about the tragic story of an entire people intertwined with a single destiny. It tells the personal experiences of the Kurd Ahmed and his family, woven together with the history of the Kurdish people, and deeply connected with the tradition of Dengbêj, the Kurdish singers and poets. We will soon have a website, a video trailer and than we start a crowdfunding campaign to finance the first steps for this film project.Let’s stay in touchYours, Betty ❤️
